According to Vineet Taneja, Samsung believes in Meaning full innovation and they have worked on the 5 key elements to create this device. Design, camera, speed, stayfit and life are the key elements Samsung considered while making Galaxy S5. The phone will go on pre order from March 29 for a price around 51000. The final price will of the devices will be announced on later date. It will be available in India from April 11.  In India the phone comes with 16 GB internal storage.

The rear of the Samsung Galaxy S5 features perforated back cover which makes it comfortable to hold. The phone is made water and dust resistant, but don’t mistake it as a water proof phone and dip it in water.  It provides protection against little exposure with liquids, like splash, spillage etc. Otherwise the design of the phone is much similar to previous version Galaxy S phones.

CPU, GPU, memory and OS

Samsung Galaxy S5 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 with Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 and Adreno 330 GPU. It features 2 GB of RAM and runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS. In India the phone comes with 16 GB of internal memory. It can expanded further by another 128 GB using microSD card. This is the maximum a mobile device can go at this point of time. The processor is the most powerful and the best available and the operating system is up to date.

Finger print Scanner and other useful features 

As we all know the phone comes with a Finger print scanner, the password is saved in an encrypted format making it impossible lose. The phone comes with Private mode, Kids mode for children. Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in 4 vibrant colors.

User interface is made it more vibrant, made simple, icons are much larger.


5.1 inch Supper AMOLED. Local contrast enhancement. it is intuitive adjusts according to the environment. Adaptive display – sees the content the user is looking at and optimizes not just according to the incoming light but also according to the content. For example the light contrast will be different for watching videos and reading e-books.


2800 mAH battery offers enough charge to offer up to 21 hours life on 3G, 10 hours browsing. Ultra power saving mode gives better battery life. For example it If the phone falls to 10 % charge, the user can opt for ultra power saving mode, nothing but the calls and SMS will be available in this mode. The phone can work 24 hours more from there. This is a very handy feature, because more than often we drains our smartphone battery, and at places where we could not charge the phone to make even a call.


Samsung Galaxy S5 Review

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 16 MP rear camera. It is capable of recording 4K 2160p videos @ 30fps and 1080p videos @60fps. It has got 1/2.6” sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size. The primary camera comes with features like Fast Auto Focus, High dynamic reach(rich tone) -controls the light to give bright images even under dark conditions. Other feature includes selective focus that we usually see in DSLR camera which enables the user to select the object to focus and to blur the not needed.

The secondary camera in the front comes with a2 MP sensor and is capable of recording 1080 p full HD videos @ 30 fps.


You can find Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, temperature, humidity, gesture and a heart rate sensor. The heart rate sensor is something unique in a mobile device and can be found on the rear of the phone near the rear camera. One might mistake it as a flash, but is a heart rate sensor. If you place the phone in the front pocket of your shirt with the back of the phone against your body the heart rate sensor is ideally positioned to monitor your hear rates.


The device supports 3G HSPA + 42 Mbps data download speeds.  The connectivity options in the phone includes microUSB v3.0 (MHL 2), ahich offer USB On-the-go and can act as a USB Host. Bluetooth V4.0 with A2DP, EDR and LE, NFC, infrared port and 2G/ 3G are the other connectivity options available. That covers all that is available. 

Pricing and Conclusion

The phone has all features one would expect from a premium high end Android smartphone. The only odd would be the seemingly out dated appearance of the phone. The price of the phone also seems to be a bit higher.

This time Samsung seems to have given special attention to the Camera in the device with many new features added to make photography simple and more clear. Most of the features in the phone are high end and the software is updated with features the make life easier for common man — an objective that Samsung seems to attain from their Samsung Galaxy devices.

The price of the device in India starts at Rs. 51000 which goes up to 53000. It will start pre-order from March 29 and will be available from April 11 2014.

Samsung after taking the feed back from the consumers who had bought the Galaxy Gear devices have made three different wearable for their mobile devices. According to feed back they came to understand that some customers did not want camera in their wearable, some did not have any problem with those and some wanted their fitness gear rather light. So Samsung made three wearable Gear as per the demand from the consumers.

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is the improved version of the Galaxy Gear first edition. This wearable features a camera and users can get updates attend calls and receive messages. These are just few of many features that are available in Samsung Galaxy Gear 2. Users can change straps, orange,brown and grey.

Features included Customizeable UX, Notifications, alerts, Watch on Remote, Hundreds of Apps. There is SDK release that lets developers to create apps specific to Galaxy Gear. It is Compatible with 17 Galaxy devices. Galaxy gear 2 has 4 GB of internal memory, user can transfer music to this device and listen to them directly from the gear.

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 offers 3 days of battery life against 1 day life offered by Galaxy Gear 1, The device is IP67 Water and dust resistant.

Gear 2 Neo – is the lighter version of Gear 2  which does not have a camera.

Gear fit

It looks cool and comes with the world’s first Super AMOLED curved touch screen on any wearable device. Gear fit is  27 grams light, comes in three colors, users can change straps. Comes with features like Instant notifications, reject calls. There is heart rate monitor, and all sorts of fitness activity tracking and analyzing features. Users can set goals improve their activity. It acts like fitness manager.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is priced at Rs 21,900, while the Galaxy Gear Neo and Galaxy Fit are priced Rs. 15,900 each.
