Oppo R1S goes official

Oppo has just announced a new Android smartphone Oppo R1S. The 5″ smartphone is an updated version of Oppo R1 introduced by the company few months back. Just recently the phone received its official certifications from Chinese authorities, and without making much delays Oppo made the device official. The phone is now listed in their official website, and it would go on pre-order starting from April 25.

The Oppo R1S features the premium looks with an elegant design and it comes in two different color options, White with a golden accent and Blue with a silver touch. While keeping the same display size and resolution from Oppo R1, Oppo beefed up the new iteration with much better processor and camera.

The Oppo R1S sports a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels HD IPS display. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400(MSM 8928) processor clocked at 1.6 GHz with Adreno 305 GPU. The phone packs 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of on-board storage.

As we noted earlier, the 8 MP main camera from Oppo R1 is upgraded to 13 MP with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 6-element and 1/3″ Sony IMX214 sensor. But the front camera remains the same, 5MP.

The phone is just 7.1mm thin and it weighs around 140 grams. The handset sports 4G LTE support and offers the normal connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and 3G.

The battery included in the device is of 2140 mAh capacity. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped with ColorOS 1.2. The Oppo R1S is priced at 2498 Chinese Yuan, approximately equal to 24,400 INR, when converted.
