While the HTC M8 is all set to hit the stores in India, Samsung’s latest flagship device Galaxy S5 has seen a price drop by a couple of thousands.
Samsung had originally announced the Galaxy S5 smartphone at the MWC earlier this year. The phone made its India debut on April 11, with an official launching price of Rs. 51,500. Now the tech giant Samsung seems to slash the price to entice more buyers, before the war to begun, in the high end smartphone space. But the Galaxy S5 is getting a price drop on some online retailers only, while the phone is still retailed with the same whopping price tag at Samsung India e-store.
Both the Flipkart and Snapdeal is offering the price drop for the device now. The interesting thing is that only the white version of the device is getting price cut, while the black and blue models remains the same. Flipkart offers two color version of the device (Shimmery White for Rs. 46,450 and black for Rs. 50,499), while the Snapdeal offers three color options ( Shimmery White for Rs. 46,450, Charcoal black for Rs. 50,999 and Electric blue for Rs.51,099).
We do expect further price drops in the coming weeks and it seems like that the phone price will settle around Rs. 43,000-44,000.
To remind you, Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa Core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16 MP rear camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Touch Wiz UI.
There was an out cry about the phone being over priced even when it was launched. The current price drop within days of the official availability shows that the Samsung had got the pricing wrong. Another reason could be the launch of the HTC One M8 in the country. Incidentally the date of Samsung Galaxy S5 price drop and the HTC One M8 launch date overlaps. HTC One M8 got officially launched in the country yesterday for Rs. 49,900.
