Lava launches Iris X1 Android Kitkat Phone

We already knew that the Lava Iris X1 is coming, but that was all we knew about the phone. The budget android phone segment in the country is really heating up. Lava, the company renowned for their budget range of android phones, has officially launched the Iris X1 phone. The company in the past few days had released several teasers of this phone.

The phone, according to the company sources, will be Amazon exclusive. The retail shop availability may follow some times later. But for now, it will be available exclusively from online store starting from tomorrow (May 27, 2014) for Rs. 7,999. Nowadays we are seeing more exclusive online retail store selling of smartphones. The trend is set by the Moto phones, that are still sold exclusively from Flipkart.

The specialty of the phone is that it comes with Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box. The is the first phone from Lava that comes with Android Kitkat. Recent phones like Lava Iris 406Q comes with guaranteed update, but the updates are still not rolled out. May be there are some compatibility issues, which is causing the delay.

Lava X1 follow the same design aspects of Lava Pro series phones. The phone features a 4.5 inch IPS display that offers 854 x 480p resolution and 217ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor along with 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage memory is 4 GB. The external microSD card slot supports up to 32 GB cards.

The phone comes with 8 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera. There is flash along with the rear camera. The connectivity options includes WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB, and GPS. It is a dual SIM phone and supports 2G and 3G network bands.

Lava Iris X1 will find competition from Moto E, which still remains out of stock at Flipkart. Other phones that have similar features includes Micromax Canvas Engage, and recently launched Kitkat phone Micromax Unite 2.
