Google and Intel have scheduled an event today, exclusively for the Chrome Books, where both the companies are expected to announce their new Chrome Book models.
Ahead of the press event, Lenovo has done their job by announcing their latest offering in the Chromebook series. When it comes to the Chromebook, Lenovo is a low contestant, even though they are in the forefront of hybrid and touch screen laptop devices. The Chinese makers took the first step in the Chromebook space by introducing some education-focused models earlier this year. But today Lenovo has unveiled two new Chromebooks, Lenovo N20 and N20P both of them are targeted on the mainstream markets, rather than focusing on business or educational buyers.
Both the devices are expected to go on sale in the coming months. Lenovo N20 will be available starting from this July for $279, while the second one Lenovo N20p will be a bit late in the market, and will be released in August 2014 with a starting price of $349.
Coming to the specifications, both the Lenovo N20 and N20p shares almost same features, and the additional $50 of N20p is for the touch screen display that adds 10 simultaneous touch points and also for the ‘Yoga’ inspired design. The Lenovo 20p can be folded to 320 degrees, making it to use in a “stand mode.”
Lenovo N20 is a typical Chromebook model with 11.6-inch 1366×768 pixel non-touch display, while the N20p features the same display with touch support. Both the Chromebooks are powered by Intel Celeron processors with integrated graphics, along with 4GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
For connectivity, both the devices are coming up with two USB ports, an HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c. The devices also offers a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a 1MP webcam on the top of the display. Both the chromebooks features Lenovo’s AccuType keypad with slightly concave keys and over sized trackpad.
Lenovo promises 8 hours of battery life for the devices. Lenovo N20p is a bit heavier which scales up to 3.1lbs, while the N20 tips to 2.8lbs.
