There seems to be an apparent shift in the trend going forward into the quarter 4 of 2014. With IFA 2014 Berlin just around the corner, leading manufacturers have started off with announcing smartwatches with difference. Now we have smartwatches for Samsung, LG, Motorola, and this time it is Asus. Besides it learned that Apple is launching a smartwatch that would complement the iPhone 6 on September 9.
As LG in their press release rightly pointed out, consumers would like more options to choose from. LG and Samsung announced their smartwatches today. LG’s G Watch R has a round shape display, while the Samsung’s Gear S features a curved display. From the teaser, Asus Zenwatch appears to be more like Samsung’s with a curved display. Not much is let out about the innards of the watch. However, being an Android wear partner, the Zenwatch should run Android wear OS. More about the device will be known when Asus officially launch it at a pre IFA event on September 3.
Asus have branded their smartwatch “Zenwatch,” adding to the zen series devices that now includes premium Zenbooks and Android Zenfones. The Zenfones are a huge success in India, with stocks of Asus Zenfone 5 running out within a day or two. Below is the video teaser of Asus Zenwatch.
