LG G watch R round smartwatch announced ahead of IFA

LG did not wait till the IFA 2014 to reveal the specifications of their round watch. LG has given the name “LG G watch R,” the R in the name obviously stands for round. The device however, will get officially launched at IFA Berlin. The specifications and details are revealed through a press release.

The released images of LG smartwatch R looks like any other ordinary watch with dials. This is obviously where the smartwatches are headed to. The smartwatches of future would rather be difficult to be identified between other ordinary watches. The first batch of these rounded watches will be seen at the IFA.It is expected to reach the markets by the Q4 of 2014, which means it won’t be too late as the Q4 is about to begin.

Motorola already have announced the Moto 360 round watch, and now it is the LG that follows. According to the press release, LG says that the customers need more designs to choose from and they are heading in that direction to offer variations. Meanwhile the LG smartwatch R runs Android wear OS compatible with smartphones that run Android 4.3 OS and above. It will support Android play store apps that are compatible with Androidwear OS.

The display is 1.3  inch full circle P-OLED display, which LG claims to be very bright even under direct sunlight. LG smartwatch R is powered by a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor along with 512 MB RAM. There is 4 GB of internal storage memory. The battery is of 410 mAh capacity. The watch is IP67 certified, which means it is water resistant (up to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes)  and dust proof. The price is not known yet.
