Motorola India is sending out invites to the media for the September 5 event which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi. The invite says to “mark 05 September on your calender.” Motorola is conducting an event in US on September 4, a day prior to the event date in New Delhi.
Like always, much is not revealed about purpose of the events. But through several leaks we now know that at least 3 new devices are launching at the event.
Motorola is introducing the successors to their popular Moto devices, the Moto G and Moto X. Besides, Moto 360 smartwatch will also see the light of the day. The successor of Moto G is expected to be called Moto G2, while the Moto X successor will be named Moto X+1.
The Moto G2 is expected to feature a 5 inch HD (1280 x 720 p) display against the 4.5 inch display in the existing model. Rest of the specifications are not expected to change. There is no change expected in the design as well. Rumors from some quarters indicates substantial increment on pricing expected of the new version of Moto G. We probably have to wait until September 4 to know that for sure.
Moto X+1 is expected to feature a 5.2 inch display with 1080p resolution, which is improvement over the existing 4.7 inch display and 720p resolution. The device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2 GB RAM. It runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS and features 12 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera. If Motorola follows the same aggressive pricing strategy, the price in India for the Moto X+1 will be around Rs. 30,000 for a 16 GB model.
Moto 360 smartwatch is already out in the public. We have already seen the hands-on videos of Moto 360 by Motorola executives itself. Moto 360 features a round dial against the rectangle design that we find on other smartwatches.
Moto 360 comes with a leather strap and has a 1.5-inch 320×290 pixels display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The price of this watch was revealed as $249 on a bestbuy.com listing recently. The listing page also had revealed almost all specifications and of Moto 360. The cost of the Moto 360 is expected around Rs.15,000 in India.
