Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be launched on August 26 in India

Xiaomi is sending invites to the bloggers for the launch of Redmi 1S in India. From the earlier teasers we already know that the device is getting launched shortly in India. The price of the device is already known when Xiaomi had launched the Mi3. Whether they surprise us with price lesser than Rs. 6,999 is to be seen. The device is expected to gather more enthusiasm than what is being witnessed during the Xiaomi Mi 3 flash sales.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S India launch invite

Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a 4 inch display that offers 1280 x 720pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core Cortex A7 CPU paired with Adreno 305 GPU. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 Soc is used in this device. There is 1 GB or RAM and 8 GB of internal storage memory in this phone. The internal storage can be expanded by another 64 GB using a microSD card.

The connectivity options in Xiaomi Redmi 1S includes WiFi, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB v2.0. Besided the phone supports 2G and 3G network bands. It has dual SIM support with dual stand-by (micro SIM).

The rear camera comes with an 8 MP sensor, while the front camera has a 1.6 MP sensor. Redmi 1S is expected to launch in India with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS with MIUI on top. If that is the case, Xiaomi will be offering an upgrade to the Android Kikat version soon.

The launch day may also see other products for the company that includes the Xiaomi Power banks that are already available for pre-order.  The power banks are available in 10,400mAh and 5,200mAh capacities, and are priced Rs 999 and Rs 799 respectively. According to Xiaomi, they have already got pre-orders for over 10,000 units within few hours of listing.

Coincidence or not, the next flash sale of Xiaomi M1 3 is also scheduled for tomorrow. The page where Flipkart had listed Xiaomi Redmi 1S as “Coming Soon” is already pulled off. Flipkart may be creating a new page for the device like they did for the Mi3. If the buyers enthusiasm goes sky high, as expected, the Flipkart and Xiaomi may resort to the Register and Buy scheme as they did for the the Mi3.
