Xiaomi Redmi 1S launched in India for Rs.5999

Xiaomi has again surprised us with the launch of their entry level device, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S. The device got launched today in an event by Hugo Burra is priced Rs.5999. Earlier the Flipkart’s “Coming Soon” page had listed the device for Rs.6999.


The flash sales as in the Xiaomi MI3 will continue, says Xiaomi boss. Xiaomi Redmi 1S is also a Flipkart exclusive device which will start taking reservations from today evening at 6 PM. The sale of the phone will start from September 2.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a 4.7 inch display that offers 1280 x 720p resolution. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz cortex A7 CPU along with Adreno 305 GPU. Qualcomm’s Snapdragpn MSN8228 chipset forms the core of this device. There is 1 GB of RAM and up to 8 GB of internal storage memory. The internal storage memory can further be updated using a microSD card slot. The phones supports microSDs up to 64 GB.

Redmi 1S supports all regular connectivity options. 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and hotspot functionality, Micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB OTG are theĀ  connectivity options. There is dual SIM support in this device. Besides the phone supports 2G and 3G network bands. Xiaomi Redmi 1S runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS with MIUI v5.0 on top.

The rear camera in the phone comes with an 8 MP sensor. It is an auto focus camera that comes with a flash associated with it. The front camera comes with a 1.6 MP sensor, the purpose of which is limited to occasional selfies and video chats.

There is 2400mAh battery packed within the dimensions of 137x69x9.9mm. The device weighs 158 grams.
