Xiaomi Redmi 1S registration started on Flipkart

Registration has started for the Redmi 1S 4.7 inch Android device on Flipkart. Xiaomi have made the registration mandatory for the purchase of the device on September 2, 2014.



The sale will be limited to only those who have registered on or before September 1 midnight. Those who have registered can purchase the device at 2 PM on September 2. It is not clear onĀ  how many units Xiaomi have on sale for their first sale. It should be at least. But again, the enthusiasm of buyers for Xiaomi devices being sky high as of now, the phone may sell off in seconds like we see with Mi 3, even after 6 sell off sessions till date.

Vice President of International for Xiaomi, Hugo Barra today launched the Xiaomi Redmi1S for a jaw dropping price of Rs. 5,999. This the cheapest price at which you can buy a quality Android device. Xiaomi is really lowering the benchmarks to levels that are not witnessed in branded Android phone space.

For the given price Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes with a 4.7 inch display that offers 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The PPI calculates to approximately 312 ppi. A Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protects the screen from scratches.

It is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core Cortex A7 CPU along with Adreno 305 GPU. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 SoC chipset is used in this device. There is 1GB of RAM in the device and up to 8 GB of internal storage memory. MicroSD card helps further expansion of storage up to 64 GB.

There is an 8 MP rear camera and 1.6 MP front camera in this device. The battery holds a maximum charge of up to 2400 mAh. It is a dual SIM phone with 2G and 3G network connectivity opitions. The overall dimensions ranges 137 x 69 x 9.9 mm, and weighs 158 g.

The competitors of this device would be the Motorola Moto E and Asus Zenfone 4 A450CG. Both phones sells for a price of Rs. 6,999 on Flipkart. Here Xiaomi Redmi holds an advantage on pricing, and the specifications on paper matches with that of the Moto G 8GB.
