Google’s Android One program is now official. Sundar Pichai, SVP for Google, launched this program for the world. The event is being held in India, where the participating device makers launched their Android One devices. Currently, Micromax, Spice, and Karbonn are the participating companies in this program.
Android One is aimed at offering identical user experience in budget segment devices. Google has set some minimum standards for the devices launched under this program. This is some what identical to the Intel’s standards for Ultrabooks.
The Phones launched under this program is expected to feature at least 4.5 inch wide display, minimum 1G RAM, 4 GB ROM, Dual SIM, Android stock OS, microSD card slot and FM Radio. $100 is the suggested price tag of Android One devices. In India the devices sells for price around Rs. 7,000. The devices will get quick software updates.
The participating companies had released the teasers of their respective Android One phones. Micromax Android One phone will be launched exclusively at Amazon and Karbonn Android One device, Karbonn Sparkle V will go on sale from Snapdeal. The exclusive online availability, however, will be for a limited period only.
Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498 will be available exclusively from Flipkart for Rs. 6,299. The device briefly appeared on the retailer website revealing all about the device.
Meanwhile, Micromax has announced that that Smartest One will be available from Amazon at 3.30 PM today.
The Micromax Android One smartphone is named Micromax Canvas A1, and is now available from Amazon.in for Rs. 6,499.
Karbonn Sparkle V is now available from Snapdeal for Rs. 6,399.
Spice Dream UNO is listed with a reduced price tag of Rs. 6299.
All the Android One smartphones are now available from their respective Online retailer websites as scheduled.
All the Android One phones launched in the first wave share common specifications that are listed below.

9 Other companies are participating in the second wave of the Android One. The second wave devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Xolo, Lava, Intex, Panasonic, Alcatel, ASUS, Acer along with biggies like HTC and Lenovo participates in the next wave Android One.
Foot note : Interestingly, the specifications are still lower than that of Xiaomi Redmi 1S that sells for a lesser price tag of Rs. 5,999.
While most of the specifications are identical, 4.5 inch Asus Zenfone A450CG comes with 8 GB internal storage. Zenfones are currently not the part of Android One program, and so does Redmi 1S.
