Google to let users to download Youtube videos in India

In  a smart move, Google is going to let the YouTube users in India to download YouTube videos directly, so that they can watch it even when they are offline.

Google says, it will help the users to watch their favorite videos even when they are offline. Currently, this feature not available in any country, and whether the new feature is India specific is yet to be known.

From a user point of view it is a great option, in a country like ours, where the Internet speeds still averages around 512 Mbps, which make it hard to stream the videos every time you want to watch it. Since, YouTube does not allow downloads of the video directly, there are softwares available for Windows and Ubuntu desktops to download YouTube videos, most of them install malwares, that makes the PCs run slow.

At the Google event, where they made Android One official, YouTube executive Ceasar Sengupta said,

YouTube is popular here. You watch some videos again and again. How awesome would it be if you could keep watching them again and again without having to pay for data, and take the videos with you wherever you go? Within the coming few weeks, much of YouTube will be available offline in India. This is huge, and our users will really, really like this. You can download a video once, save it to your phone, and watch it again and again.

From Google’s side it will save a huge amount of bandwidth. The feature will be available in few weeks in India. The exact time is not revealed. The YouTube Android Apps will soon have this option.
