Samsung just now launched the ‘stylish’ Galaxy Alpha at an event held in New Delhi, India. The device will go on sale from October first week for Rs. 39,990. In Galaxy Alpha we can see a totally different approach in the design and overall built.
All the previous phones including the premium ones from Samsung were made of rich plastic, which obviously raised many voices. It was primarily because the iPhone and few other premium phones used metal frames, which is considered more durable. This is however proved wrong with the recent reports of iPhone 6 plus made of Aluminium bending while put in tight jeans or trousers. Several videos appeared thereafter proving that the Samsung phones can handle outside pressures with ease.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha, however, will please all those who cried for a metallic and a more stylish phone from Samsung. Though it resembles previous iPhone models, this device sure is beautiful, compact and light weight. It weighs just 115g, and has thickness of 6.7mm. The overall dimension of the phone ranges 132.4×65.5×6.7mm.
The phone features a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED display that offers 1280 x 720p resolution. The pixel density calculates to ~312 ppi. Android v4.4.4 Kitkat OS runs in this device.
Galaxy Alpha is powered by Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU along with Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. Exynos 5 Octa 5430 is the chipset used in this device. There is 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage battery. There is no microSD card slot in this device.
Connectivity options includes NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB. The phone supports 4G LTE connectivity along with 3G and 2G. Like all premium phones, Galaxy alpha too comes with a heart rate monitor and paypal certified finger print sensor. Sensors in this phone includes Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, finger print and heart rate sensor.
The 12 MP rear camera in the phone records 2160p 4K videos @ 30 frames per second. It is an auto-focus camera that comes with an LED flash. Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama and HDR are some of the other camera features. In the front of the device is a 2.1 MP sensor camera.
The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Sleek Silver, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold and Scuba Blue color variants. Galaxy alpha comes with a relatively small 1860 mAh battery.
