Oppo has launched a real slim device that measures just 4.85mm in thickness, or rather we can say thinness. The new oppo phone, the Oppo R5 easily breaks the record of Gionee S5.1, which currently is the thinnest phone in the world. The phone will go on sale for $499 unlocked, which is around Rs. 30,000.
Thin phones are often met with the over heating complaints, which is also a major constraint in making thin phones, as there won’t be much of a gap between the body and the processor. Oppo addresses this issue by including a layer of liquid metal material filled in between the chip and graphite.
Oppo R5 features a 5.2 inch AMOLED display that offers 1920 x 1080p resolution. The display offers 16M color depth and ~424 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Octa core CPU paired with Adreno 405 GPU. Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM 8939 chipset is used in this device. There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage memory.
There is a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera in Oppo R5. The rear camera is capable of recording full HD videos. It is an auto focus camera that comes with a flash.
Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with Color OS 2.0 on top runs on the device. The phone has 4G LTE as a connectivity option along with 2G and 3G. Other connectivity options includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB.
The phone comes with VOOC rapid charging technology. It features a 2000 mAh battery. What ever be the other configurations, the phone will become popular just because of its ultra thin profile. Oppo R5 comes with a stainless steel body and has micro-arc frame that is hand polished.
