Phones in queue for Android 5.0 Lollipop update

Google announced Android L during the recent Google I/O, but it is just two days ago that the Android OS version 5.0 got its distinct name. We all know now that the most recent Android OS is called Android 5.0 Lollipop. As the new version is coming out all of us have a question our mind. When will I get Android Lollipop on my phone? Well, the answer is that it depends on the kind of device you own.

The first devices to feature the latest Lollipop OS are the Motorola made Nexus 6 and HTC made Nexus 9. So these two companies have early access to the Android Lollipop OS and without any doubt the roll out will start from Moto and HTC devices. HTC, Sony and few other companies have already announced the roll out plans.

Another set of devices to get the early updates are the Android One phones. As of now, Android One is available only in few phones in India. The Android One OEM’s like Micromax, Spice and Karbonn might have had early access to the Android SDK, which is now available to all developers. So few of the phones from these companies too will be in the front of the line to receive the updates.

Google Play edition devices too will get the updates rolled out to them by the beginning of November. The question of when will the updates be available on devices is still to be known. This post will be updated with new details as and when they are available with us.

I have the list of phones that will get Android Lollipop update soon in the future. Update can begin rolling out as early as November 3 and can also be as late as December on some devices.
