OnePlus One pre-order will start on October 27 at 15:00 GMT (08:00 PST, 11:00 EST). The time mentioned here is important because the pre-order will be limited to an hour window. So it is a kind of flash sale, but a sure opportunity for those have not got the invite to buy the device. OnePlus sells their device through a unique invite system.
You can pre-order the phone from here: preorder.oneplus.net
The pre-order system, however, will not entirely replace the invites method. This is just another way of buying OnePlus One phone. Those who have access to the invite can still order the device directly.
OnePlus One became a much sought after device within a short span especially because of its high end specifications, low price and the custom CyanogenMod ROM that runs in the device. The limited availability also contributed to the increase in demand.
The information on the pre-order system comes through a recent blog post. Earlier, the company had reported about the imminent launch of the pre-order system through their official forum. A different forum post for the OnePlus Global Director, Carl Pei, also confirmed the near future availability of the device in India.
OnePlus has already appointed a GM for India operations, and the device has passed the certification process. Certification is considered the last hurdle for a mobile communication gadget before entering into the consumer market. Having cleared this One Plus One can be made available any time soon in the market.
Since the Diwali is almost here and gone, company might be considering the next big opportunity for the launch, which will be Christmas. The device will now find a launch date in India during the first week of December or even earlier.
The company has already given hints about the pricing of the device in India. It will be in match with the US pricing. According to a company statement in the past, the 64 GB OnePlus One will be priced less than Rs. 25,000 in India. We assume the price to start at Rs. 18,000 for the 16 GB OnePlus One.
In India, OnePlus One will be competing with Xiaomi Mi4, which will be available in India during the Christmas 2014. Both these devices have similar price and specifications.
