Lava Iris 500 with 5 inch IPS display launched for Rs. 5,499

Lava launches a new budget Android smartphone in the country. The new phone is named Lava Iris 500, and will be available shortly across all Lava retail outlets and online e-stores. The phone is currently listed on the official Lava mobiles website with a price tag of Rs. 5,499.

Lava Iris 500 comes with a 5 inch display that offers 854 x 480p FWVGA resolution. The display offers 16M colors and ~196 ppi pixel density. The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual core processor paired with 512 MB of RAM. The chipset is not specified in the listing. There is 4 GB of internal storage, out of which 2.43 GB is available for the user.

There is a 5 MP fixed focus rear camera and a 0.3 MP front facing camera. The rear camera comes with a flash.  HDR Mode, Burst Mode, Panaroma Mode, 720 p video recording are the other camera features.

Lava Iris 400 is a dual SIM phone that supports 2G and 3G network bands. Other connectivity options in the phone includes Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. microUSB v2.0 and GPS with A-GPS. It runs Android 4.4 Kitkat OS.

Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, ALS sensors are available in this device. The battery comes with a capacity of 1800 mAh, and it offers talk time of up to 4.5 hours on 2G networks.

Lava Iris 500 is comparable to the recently launched Intex Style X. While both phone belong to same price group, the latter have an advantage over the former on the display resolution, camera units and CPU. However, Lava Iris 500 have a larger display compared to Intex phone.
