Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen.) 2014 Android Lollipop 5.0 update begins

Before you get excited, let me remind you that it is the soak test for the Moto G (2nd Gen.). It arrives just three days after Motorola started soak test for the Moto X devices. The official roll out begins shortly as the soak test is the last phase of the software testing on a phone.

For those who are not familiar with the term soak test, it is a way OEM’s test the softwares in real environment using real users before they are made available for all. Soak test software may contain bugs and the company expect the users to report the bugs as they can deal with it before the official release.

How to update to Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto G 2nd Generation?

If you want to update your Moto G 2nd generation device to Lollipop follow these instructions. Make sure you have at least 50% charge left in your phone before the update and better be on a WiFi network. Some people will get the notification for update from Motorola. If you have the notification follow these steps:

Note: Before you proceed please note that you cannot downgrade once you update the software.

  1. Select “Yes, I’m in”
  2. The software will start download, once finished, select “Install now.”
  3. Your phone will restart automatically once the installation is complete.
  4. Enjoy Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Moto G (2nd Gen.)

If you do not have notification follow these steps:

  1. Go to menu, select settings.
  2. Select “About phone.”
  3. Select “System updates”.
  4. Select “Yes, I’m in.”
  5. The software will start download, once finished, select “Install now.”
  6. Your phone will restart automatically once the installation is complete.
  7. Enjoy Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Moto G (2nd Gen.)
