Micromax has launched a new smartphone for the selfie obsessed youth in India. The new phone is called Micromax Canvas Selfie. This is not just another selfie phone that compromises on technical features. It features a 4.7 inch HD IPS display that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display offers 16 M colors and ~314 ppi pixel density.
Micromax Canvas Selfie is powered by a 1.7 GHz Tru Octa core processor paired with Mali 450 Graphics and 2 GB of RAM. MediaTek MT6592 is the chipset used. There is 16 GB of internal storage memory in the phone, which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. The runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box.
There no denying that the 13 MP front facing camera is the real highlight in this phone. We seldom see such high resolution front camera on smartphones. If the key attraction in the phone is the selfie camera, it should have some associated flavors that would enhance the images. The camera software is equipped with features like eye enhancement, skin smoothening, teeth whitening, remove oil, make-up, fade dark circles etc.
On the connectivity front, the device supports 2G and 3G network connectivity. It is a dual SIM phone. Other connectivity options includes WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and microUSB v2.0. The battery capacity is 2300 mAh.
The price of the phone is not revealed by the company. It is expected to get a price tag of around Rs. 12,000 when it launches during mid-January 2015.
