Xiaomi has officially announced Redmi 2, which is the successor of its best selling device of 2014, the Redmi 1S. The Redmi 2 comes with 4G LTE network connectivity. It is powered by the Snapdragon 410, 64 bit SoC which features 1.2 GHz quad core CPU and Adreno 306 GPU. The phone is priced 699 CNY in China which is around $112 and Rs. 7000 in India.
The design of the phone is also slightly different from the previous model. The Redmi 2 has more obvious curves on the corners and comes in 5 different color options. The design is more contemporary than the original version. The overall dimensions ranges 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 features a 4.7 inch display that offers 1280 x 720p HD display. The display offers 16M colors and ~312 ppi pixel density. As mentioned earlier, it supports 4G LTE bands on dual SIMs, besides the 2G and 3G bands. Other connectivity options includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v2.0 and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S is the most successful smarphone in India in recent times. The company has sold over a million smarphones in the country within a span of 5 months. Currently Xiaomi sell Redmi Note 4G and Xiaomi Redmi 1S in India through flash sales on every Tuesdays. It will not be very late before we see Redmi 2 in the country. The price of Xiaomi Redmi 2 in India is expected to be Rs. 6,499.
