Xiaomi need no more introduction as they have already captured the markets will their smart devices sold at lowest ever prices. Xiaomi is believed to do it again as the rumor of yet another ultra affordable phone is about to become reality in coming days. The upcoming phone will be sold at price cheaper than Redmi 1S, which is now discontinued to make way for Redmi 2. The new upcoming phone, however, looks very much like Redmi phones in design. So, we expect the nomenclature of the phone in same lines as Redmi. It could be a cheaper (read cheapest) Redmi.
According to the Chinese blog Mydrivers.com, the new phone will be sold for CNY 499 which is approximately Rs.5000. If it makes its way to India, the price won’t change much either way. While the price is cheap, the specifications of the phone still impresses.
The phone features 4.7 inch display that offers 1280 x 720p resolution. It is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz Leadcore LC 1860 CPU along with Mali T628 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. There will be 8 GB of expandable internal storage memory. The rear camera is of 13 MP resolution and the front camera 2 MP. Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with MIUI skin will run on the phone. It is a 4G device.
The phone is believed to launch to mark the 5th anniversary of the company. The company is celebrating the event on March 31 where the CEO Lei Jun will be launching the device. We might see yet another device on the day, which was spotted carrying a code name ‘Ferrari.’
