Sony has announced its flagship device of 2015, the Xperia Z4 in Japan. Further news indicates that the Xperia Z4 could be made available only in Japan. The crisis in its smartphone business is clearly reflecting on its latest flagship announced. It is very unlike Sony, to launch a flagship device with no significant advancement in its internals.
Sony Xperia Z4 comes with the same 5.2 inch full HD Triluminos display that we saw in the previous version Xperia Z3. The chipset sees an advancement to Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 which is an octa core chipset. It comes paired with 3 GB of RAM. The phone will be available in 32GB and 64GB memory options.
The phone runs Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop) out-of-the-box. While the length and breadth of the phone remains the same as in Z3, the thickness is reduced to 6.9 as compared to 7.3mm thickness of Z3. The weight sees significant reduction, but all these comes with a compromise in battery capacity. Xperia Z4 features a 2930 mAh battery against the 3100 mAh battery of Z3.
The rear camera in Xperia Z4 is the same 20.7 MP camera, while in the front Sony have included a bigger 5.1 MP camera against the 2.2 MP camera of Z3. Xperia Z4 will be available in White, black, copper and aqua green color variants.
Sony might find it difficult to fight the mighty Samsung S6, Motorola Turbo and HTC One 9 plus phones in the International premium segment markets. All these phones comes with better display and specifications than this newly introduced Sony flagship device.
