After a series of delays Asus has started offering Lollipop update for its Zenfone 1st series phones Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6. The update was delayed because of some verification issues according to the company sources. Otherwise Lollipop could have been running on Zenfones last month itself.
The lollipop update on Zenfone comes with some tweaks which includes the removal of battery widget, PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient, and Magic Smoke Wallpapers. The update can be downloaded from here.
Asus had launched Zenfone 2 phones last month with top end model’s RAM topping 4 GB. While the first generation devices were mostly in the Sub 10000 territory, the second generation Zenfone 2 phones are more rich in their internal specifications and so is priced little more than the first generation phones.
While in a most recent development, Google has launched the Android M 6 Version, which will be running on the devices within few months. What “M” stands for will be revealed later, as is the tradition. Developers now have the hands on the new Android version and several of the new features are being tested and documented.
