Xiaomi Redmi 1S gets MIUI 6 Android Kitkat 4.4.4 update in India

Good news for Redmi 1S users in India. Xiaomi is finally offering an OS update to Kitkat for its Redmi 1S device in India. Many you might have received the notification for update by now. Others don’t have to worry, because the updates are made available in batches. If haven’t received the update and seek to update now, download the stable version from the MIUI forum page and flash it on your device. The recent release is a Stable version of the UI base on Android 4.4.4, which is the last released Kitkat version, the one just before the Lollipop, which is somewhat recent.

Like most of the major OS updates, the skin of your UI changes once you install the update. The new skin appears lighter and more flat. Other major changes includes the LED notification when receiving calls. This can be enabled from Call settings – Incoming call settings – Flash when ringing. The new UI adds Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for India.

Besides the above mentioned additions the MIUI 6 Global Stable Build V6.6.1.0.KHCMICF fixes several bugs in contacts, messaging, Lockscreen, Status Bar, Notification Bar, Home screen, camera, music, weather, settings, email, recorder, calender, calculator, security and Mi cloud. Apart from the fixes there are some area that have been optimised in sections like messaging, music, browser and internet calling button.

Though late, the UI update will add more love for the brand Xiaomi among the customers in India. Not many companies offers updates for their phones that are not selling currently in the market. This includes companies like Micromax and Samsung for their budget offerings. Xiaomi had released the beta version of MIUI 6 two weeks back. Redmi 1S is no longer sold in India. It is substituted with Redmi 2 which is a 4G device.
